Designing Baby Change Making at the Houses of Parliament

Design Lecturer Sally Sutherland is presenting ‘Infant Feeding and baby making in Arts and Design education, research and practice’ 14th March 2023 at the Houses of Parliament. The presentation is to the APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) on Infant Feeding and Inequalities, and relates to her AHRC funded practice based doctoral research. Sally has been working with BA Graphic Communication Design students Jasmijn Toffano and Ruby Gamman Wragg at Central Saint Martins, UAL (University of Arts London) on a project called Baby Change Making about making change for mothers and parents in higher art and design school education.

Sally created the Art and Design School Manifesto for Making and Feeding Futures for the Baby Change Making exhibition at Central Saint Martins, UAL in March 2023, curated by Jasmijn and Ruby in response to their experiences as mothers and students in art and design higher education. The manifesto is now part of the Procreate project archive, is free for anyone to download anywhere, and has recently been exhibited at Brighton CCA, and Hastings Contemporary. Sally is presenting the manifesto alongside Jasmijn and Ruby during their presentation ‘Infant Feeding and baby making in Arts and Design education, research and practice’.
