Radical Rooms: Power of the Plan is a new ground breaking exhibition now showing at RIBA until 30th July. The exhibition has been created by our very own Professor Charles Holland in partnership with visual artist Di Mainstone.
Spanning 500 years three domestic buildings feature in the exhibition Hardwick Hall, A la Ronde, and the Hopkins House. Each one described from the inside out and chosen to highlight the crucial role of women in their design and development. In so doing the exhibition gives an alternative exploration of gender and power relations embedded within the layout the domestic space. It also includes stories from architectural history and shows how architectural plans have challenged or changed conventions of domestic life.
