Farouk Agoro: Architect’s Journal 40 under 40 list.

It been a good week for Brighton School of Architecture and Design staff and alumni. Congratulations to former Brighton Architecture student Farouk Agoro who is on this years prestigious Architects Journal  40 under 40 list. Farouk who works in Brixton as both an artist and an architect was shortlisted in the 40 under 40 list as a member of Nooma Studio  https://www.nooma.studio/about

Farouk heads up this collaborative architectural studio whose work plays with the themes of time, space and place. Inspiration is most often found in the physical, historical and cultural layers of the room they occupy, whether individually or as communities.

Farouk’s other work as an artist explores the continuous abstraction of pattern through repetition and colours as a wayfinder to creatively express the emotions as well as the physical body in space.

He works independently as  https://faroukagoro.com/ and also on collaborative projects with Livia Wang who teaches on BA Architecture at Brighton.

Livia and Farouk (as part of Bamidele Awoyemi, Farouk Agoro & Livia Wang Collective) are one of the three shortlisted artists in the running to create a site-specific artwork at the newly opened Tessa Jowell Health Centre (TJHC) in East Dulwich as part of a competition run by Dulwich Picture Gallery. https://www.dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk/about/news-blog/2021/april/dulwich-picture-gallery-and-tessa-jowell-health-centre-announce-shortlist-for-first-health-led-art-commission/
