David Leech began his own practice in 2016 after 13 years working at several European offices including Herzog de Meuron in Basel, Caruso St John architects and 6a architects in London, and dePaor architects and Grafton architects in Dublin. In 2018 David Leech Architects Ltd. was established. The practice has been awarded several architectural prizes for its first works and the practice was a recipient of an Arts Council Bursary grant in 2018 for its research on the idea of a ‘richly economic’ architecture.
David has lectured on the projects and the studio in the UK and in Europe including a talk on the work of the practice as part of the Architecture Foundation’s New Architects Architecture on Stage series in London.
The practice was invited to exhibit at the Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa in Portugal in 2019 as part of the ‘What is Ornament?’ exhibition, and was recently invited to add to the Alternative Histories exhibition for its installation in Dublin, Ireland in 2021.
David teaches architecture at the Cass School of Architecture, London Metropolitan University, and University College Dublin and has reviewed at numerous universities throughout Ireland, the UK, and Europe. The practice is currently engaged in public and private works including houses, housing, office and gallery projects.
