10-10 (Ten-Ten) Urban Matter Talk: Thursday 11th February.

1010 [TEN-TEN] … is a design agency for architecture and urbanism: our work is unmistakably rooted in these two fields of knowledge, embodying both a rich background and history. However, the ambition to produce a comprehensive urban experience pushes us beyond the current boundaries constricting these two disciplines.

… approaches places with an inclusive regard: we are open to the multitude of voices that inhabit our towns and cities, real driving forces of our future, including the often inaudible claims coming from the physical environment (water, soil, energy, matter).
… as practitioners with one foot in the academic world, we stand for a research-based way of working, build around inquiry and aware of the latest developments in the field.

The work of 1010 is the result of a process of creation rooted in the places we design, committed to their users and residents, aware of the aspect of time as a primary ingredient of the spatial project: the time to ripen the spirits, the momentum, the time to let something grow and build. 1010 architecture urbanism Ltd. was founded by Bert Gellynck and Nadia Casabella.

Bert Gellynck is an architect & urbanist and founding partner of the Brussels based design office 1010 (ten-ten). He is a design studio mentor in the faculty of architecture and urban planning of the University of Ghent.

Nadia Casabella holds master’s degrees of science and engineering in architecture (1997) from the UPC Barcelona and in urban and regional planning (2005) from the London School of Economics. She is founding partner of 1010 architecture urbanism., adjunct professor at ULB Faculty of Architecture La Cambre-Horta, and research fellow at the Laboratory of Urbanism, Infrastructures and Ecology – LoUIsE.
