Ready for the next stage of PPE production.

A little over a week ago, The School of Architecture and Design team making PPE received a generous donation to help further develop the production of equipment for front line workers. The donation came from sales of Philosophy Football’s Born in the NHS t shirts and gave an exciting boost to the project.
The main focus of production had initially been on single use face masks, and then ear guards. Since receiving the donation the team have moved production from lots of single use face shields to more robust face shields that can be cleaned and reused.
To suit both the School’s equipment and suppliers this is a much more sustainable approach to the manufacture of PPE both in environmental terms and in users having a stable and longer lasting supply. The most recent model has been adapted from a design produced by Foster and Partners. Testing has been completed and production will start again on Monday.
June is of course a busy time of year for many of the staff involved, but in addition to planning an innovative end of year show (online) they will continue to work on producing PPE until they go back to normal work activities.
What a team!
