The City Charette: a chance to shape Brighton’s Future.

As part of Design Brighton a workshop is being held on 19th October to find solutions to urban planning challenges. The City Charrette is a partnership between Brighton and Hove Council and Design Brighton – bringing together students and practitioners from architecture, development and planning to help shape the future of Brighton. Working in small design teams the event will explore a range of sites and proposals such as routes and connections, building functions, structural forms and public spaces. Final proposals from the Charrette will then be exhibited at the official launch of Design Brighton on 24th October at i360. Design Brighton is a major new festival that is coming to Brighton with a vision to celebrate the rich built environment and promotes Brighton’s global reputation as a city that has design and diversity at its core. The festival will showcase designers, producers and educators and provide a strong collaborative network for local businesses and communities. It also aims to inspire young people to explore and seek out design opportunities that encourage them to stay in the city after graduating.

Design Brighton are looking for students from relevant disciplines to participate in this event and there will be a presentation to students about how to get involved on Thursday 11th October at 2pm – speak to Frank O Sullivan or Jeff Turko for more details.
