Studio 11: Investigations.

To start off the term Studio 11 visited our site in Brighton. Sandwiched between the centre and the ambitious new residential and educational developments of Lewes Road, the once meat-packing district of the city holds remnants of its industrial past. The ghost of the old train line flanks the present-day train route, the old barracks and factories leave a legacy of fast-changing inhabitation.

Our site investigations began with a treasure hunt for found objects and a search for the most engaging moments of the site. We visited the creative studios that have sprung up in the old industrial buildings and ventured around the mixed boundaries of public, private, abandoned and new inhabitations.

To share the overarching studio investigations this year we will highlight individual student work as each stage progresses, beginning this thread of development with Osarieme Isokpan’s initial site and object studies.
