Newhaven Rediscovered.

For the first brief of the second semester project, Fourth Wall studio spent a cold and foggy day in Newhaven taking part in a derive in groups. Within prescribed zones in the town, each group were exploring boundaries architectural, physical, meta-physical, imagined – and unexpected encounters with the aim to map their findings in a 1:1000 scale map, as well as a producing a second map exploring future projections and strategies for Newhaven. Alongside this, each group produced a film exploring their psycho-geographical investigations in more detail to develop their own concepts, perceptions and understanding of the town. The group work culminated in a day of presentations and seminars exploring their ideas with guest critics. It was a fast paced and energetic start to the project, with unexpected results!
