PPE making project expands.

Everyone is aware of the ongoing national conversation about the urgent need to get PPE to the frontline. So we are proud that while our workshops remain temporarily closed to students, an initiative led the School of Architecture and Design and Print Services means staff are actually in Mithras House making much needed equipment. With the assistance of School of Art colleagues, Brighton Student Union and the School of Education in donating materials, the project has been going from strength to strength.

So far staff have made 2684 face shields which have gone to Brighton hospitals, the ambulance service, care homes, GPs, hospices and carers in the community.

Staff have now branched out into making ear guards with the offcuts of materials used to make the shields. These will be distributed by the local NHS trust to their clinical staff to protect their ears from pressure sores caused by wearing face masks for long periods of time.

It is rewarding and very worthwhile work and the School of Architecture and Design want to thank everyone involved for being part of a fantastic team and making this possible with their assistance, donations of materials and of course their time.
