Congratulations to our very own Duncan Baker Brown who has just been elected onto the RIBA Council.
For regular followers of our blog this will be of no surprise as Duncan seemingly never stops writing, lecturing, designing and campaigning for more sustainable design solutions across the construction industry and for real action on the climate emergency. Duncan wanted to thank all those who voted for him, not least members of the Architects Climate Action Network and says he is committed to ensure that climate emergency action stays front and centre of all he does in his newly elected role.
Just in case you weren’t paying attention the first time around here are Duncan’s three pledges……
Call for the RIBA to provide the appropriate support and learning, including a ‘Climate Literate’ CPD programme, to ensure that its members understand how to respond positively to the UK Parliament’s commitment to be Net-Zero Carbon by 2050.
Call for a complete overhaul of architectural education to ensure that the curriculum enables students and academics alike to become ‘Climate Literate’.
Ensure that the opportunities presented by the world of architectural education and practice are completely accessible to people from all communities and backgrounds.
