I started by placing different materials onto a transparent surface and lit them up on an overhead projector. The reflective surfaces produced some interesting images that helped me to explore the relationship between inside and outside of south part of the building. In response I then made a model out of acrylic and made a series of photograms to explore the rest of the site further. By that point I’ve had plenty of images from different mediums. Drawing them in an abstract way helped me explore notions of transparency, refraction and how they might link to my programme. The reiteration of these drawings then became more spacial and helped me with my design proposal. This process of making things through different mediums and not knowing how they will turn out has helped me loosen up my mind and made me think more creatively.
