Studio 14 tutor Jack Wates has been working in collaboration with a collective of performers and constructors to set up an installation event in Hackney London.
‘Outside Inside Out is a dance theatre piece staged in a sound and light installation. The space is conceived as a sort of instrument, and comprises a forest of elasticated strings that create sound and are animated though dynamic lighting. Dream worlds collide with reality in a series of exterior and interior spaces: a forest, a house, an open door and window.’
The piece was produced by Jack Wates & Rocio Ayllon in association with New River Studios and was a collaborative self-funded event, staged in mid February this year. This has great relevance to our Studio 14 first term project; and in particular demonstrates the practice of interdisciplinary potential of architectural practice.
